In time honoured tradition the Guild of Our Lady of Ransom has distributed a large portion of its funds to every diocese in England and Wales. Over £300,000 was distributed in December 2018, plus our annual support of £50,000 to the Walsingham Shrine as per our partnership agreement, plus £30,000 to support the Dowry Tour of Our Lady of Walsingham.
The Guild of Our Lady of Ransom can only be generous like this because of the ongoing support of our small army of Ransomers, who are very generous in their support of the work of this particular Guild. Many parishes write to us expressing their thanksgiving, and if not for the Poor Parishes Grants, some of these parishes would have to close down.
The Guild continues to invite Ransomers to remember us in your Will, to support parishes via Mass offerings, which is a key part of our ongoing mission, and to pray the daily prayer for the conversion of England.
You will note that to the right of the graph there is a donation made to the Falklands Prefecture. Our Emeritus Master, Mgr Stark, visited the Falklands, and the Executive Council made the decision to continue supporting this mission which is the work of the Norbertine Fathers. They have been good enough to write in thanksgiving and send us some photos of the work that Ransomers support. A Church which is having a major renovation including new windows.
On behalf of the parishioners on the Islands of the South Atlantic, thank you so very much for the cheque to help with the Church's work in those Islands.
A major project of the past year has been the replacement of windows in the church of St Mary's, Stanley. Attached are some photographs. The cost is around £76,000, so we are very grateful for your help. This year we are replacing the roof on the church on St Helena.
