How and why was Regina Caeli established?
Regina Caeli was founded in the USA in 2003 and there are now 15 branches there. Regina Caeli’s first concern is to help parents – the primary educators of their family – to lead their children to Christian perfection and the knowledge and love of God.
In practical terms, it supports home educators with a structured two-day programme in the classical, Catholic tradition and is committed to faithful adherence to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church.
As Regina Caeli UK, we opened our doors in September 2019, after 17 months of much planning, a visit by representatives of Regina Caeli from the USA and a great deal of prayer.
The steady growth in numbers over the five years since we started shows that what we are providing is answering a need. Their commitment to Regina Caeli is evidenced by the fact that some of our families travel from 100 miles away and others have moved into the area so that their children can attend Regina Caeli.
Have there been any obstacles or challenges to your work?
As we’ve grown from 17 children in 2019 to 88 in 2024, space has been a challenge. A day-to-day challenge is the fact that we have to set up our classrooms at the beginning of each Academy day, and put them all away again at the end of the day.
How has the Guild's support helped your work?
We don’t make a profit; all our fees go towards staff salaries, rent, and other expenses. The generous donation to our Bursary Fund has enabled us to give bursaries to families who would otherwise have struggled to pay the fees.
What hopes and plans do you have for the future?
We are adding a grade each year, as our oldest students advance, until our students reach the age of 18. Our dream would be to acquire a permanent home of our own in the area.
Here are a few quotes from RCA parents:
“No matter how far you live from the RCA centre, one of the amazing things about being part of RCA is that families don't just join a homeschooling hybrid academy, they become part of a truly exceptional community.”
“For us, RCA is the answer to our prayers. After having experienced school as well as homeschooling, RCA brings us the best of both. Being with our sons three full weekdays sharing and learning together is priceless”.
“Joining the RCA has blessed our family in ways we couldn't have imagined. Having such a faith-focused, warm community is indeed a great blessing. And seeing our boys grow in confidence and competence with their learning, has shown us that classical education does work.”
